serwerze mozna go znalezc. Ciekawi mnie to poniewaz ostatnio mamy

/pub/novell/netwire/novlib/mercury/merc111.zip.
gatewayem lpr/lpd <-> Novell). Za to moze dzialac jako listserver.

Czesc,
Z dos-a np. pracuje pakiet
MENUET i inne Integrujace wszystkie uslugi sieciowe(ftp, telnet, news itp)
w jednym pakiecie.
w siec do servera.
trzeba go opuszczac aby odebrac poczte. Mozna szczegolnie w Windows

aby firma ATM przed ta akcja postarala sie o polonizacje oprogramowania.
Gdyby mialo ono byc rozprowadzane w wersji angielskiej, to nadal
preferowalbym software public domain.

Kopie tegoz przesylam do ATM: kasia@atm.com.pl

Popieram!
Tu - zgoda.

Osobny problem, to dokumentacja. Jest to nb. przegadana cegla.
Kto to przetlumaczy?

I w jakim sensie?

Moj komentarz na uboczu. Ciekawe, czy wybuchnie "wojna cenowa" miedzy ATM
a resellerami SUN-a (np. Solidex-em), ktorzy beda postawieni w trudnej
sytuacji ze swoim PC-NFS. Ktory nb. nie jest przeciez gorszy
(mowie to jako zwolennik jednak PC/TCP), a w dodatku dosc rozpowszechniony
w Polsce, tak jak SUN-y.

Wyobrazcie sobie, ze macie szybkie serwery newsow polaczone wolnymi
liniami telefonicznymi (sytuacja typowa dla Polski). I chcecie transferowac
ile sie tylko da. Naturalne jest, ze dazylibyscie do kompresji
transferowanych batchow (bo normalnie transferowany jest czysty tekst
ASCII). Rozwiazaniem jest zastosowanie UUCP over TCP, ktora to konfiguracja

Dlatego
nie bedziemy stosowac UUCP over TCP.

OK, dopasuje sie. Tylko zamiast darmowego rozwiazania, ktore
zmniejsza objetosc przesylanych plikow 4-krotnie, kupie sobie
High Speed Serial i wynajme lacze 2 MB. W sumie ze 100.000.000 zl plus
oplaty dzierzawne za lacze co miesiac.

Albo poczekam cierpliwie, az Pagesat zawiesi satelite nad Europa
i umozliwi mi feed bezposrednio ze zrodla.

W oryginalnej dokumentacji jest kopalnia wiedzy. Nic by sie nie stalo,
gdyby byla przetlumaczona w calosci. Kto? Za ile? To sprawa ATM (glownie)
i KBN. Ludzi ci w Polsce dostatek, ktorzy moga tlumaczyc.

Zaden oczywiscie.

PRAGUE
is like a history lesson come true. As you walk among the long stone
palaces or across the 'Charles Bridge', with Smetana's Vltava flowing below
and pointed towers all around, you will feel as if history had stopped
somewhere back in the 18th century.
Goethe called Prague the 'prettiest gem in the stone crown of the world'.
This cultural center of Europe is famous for its architectural treasures
that have been so well preserved. Its wealth can be gathered from the
diversity and quantity of the many Romanesque monuments and its Gothic town
planning. In time new styles developed, like Baroque and later on Art
Nouveau. The countenance of Prague reflects every cultural period and all
the different artistic styles.
Musical life is a deeply rooted tradition in Prague. One only needs to
remember the names of the two greatest Czech composers, Antonin Dvorak and
Bedrich Smetana. Their music can still be heard.
It is said that it is an advantage to be a foreigner in Prague. The
renowned Slavonic hospitality manifests itself in Prague at every step.
A lot of traditional Czech products are offered, like crystal, porcelain,
earthenware, but also CDs, and illustrated art books. The national

Przepraszam, kto przedstawil to "oficjalne stanowisko NASK"?!
przesylaniu dluzszych ciagow identycznych znakow. Poniewaz pliki skompresowane
na ogol takich ciagow nie zawieraja, mogloby to nas uratowac... Pomijam juz

Linux umozliwia uzywanie polskich liter na ekranie (ISO Latin 2) i
klawiaturze (uklad programisty). Wystarczy zaladowac font, uklad
klawiatury i translacje
(pakiet ftp.funet.fi:/pub/OS/Linux/PEOPLE/Linus/kbd-0.85.tar.gz),
a telnet i rlogin sa 8-bitowe oczywiscie.

Mozliwosc zmiany tekstow to nie wszystko. Pozostaje kwestia fontu
i klawiatury. Wiele programow, zwlaszcza dla MS-DOS, uzywa Alt-Klawisz,
co uniemozliwia korzystanie z ukladu klawiatury programisty.

Zgadzam sie, ze jest to "kopalnia wiedzy". Mam te ksiazke, czytam, doceniam.
Ale komu ona jest glownie potrzebna? Administratorowi lub tp. "guru".
A ten zna (powinien znac) jezyk.

rzadkosc. Uzytkownik akademicki nie znajacy angielskiego, a potrzebujacy
pelnego spektrum wiedzy "kopalnianej" to juz zupelnie egzotyczna krzyzowka.

Reasumujac:

1. OK. Mozna by przetlumaczyc jakis fragment z cyklu "Getting started"
telnet i ftp a zwlasza aplikacje okienkowe. W razie pytan i problemow
ktos taki idzie do guru, ktory zna i tajniki sofware'u i jezyk.
Taka operacja
znacznie opozni dystrubucje. A potrzebna jest malo komu. Owszem mozna
posadzic setke tlumaczy i kazac im zrobic to w tydzien, ale taki przeklad
na chybcika bedzie niespojny i malo wiarygodny. Ja np. i tak bede siegal
   do oryginalu.

Mialem podobna sytuacje. Linia dierzawiona, modemy Goramo 9600, 2 PC z KA9Q.
Ping i telnet jakos szly a FTP stawal nawet na najmniejszych zbiorach.
Okazalo sie, ze winne byly PC - bardzo stare AT 286. Po ich wymianie
wszystko jest OK.

Pozdrawiam,

Dostalem wlasnie informacje o ew. zakupie PCTCP f-my FTP software
tu swoje trzy grosze.
Zazwyczaj wobec mozliwosci zakupu jakiegos produktu warto rowniez
konkurencja i przyjrzec sie relacji "price/performance".
Mam w zwiazku z tym propozycje, aby przed takim zakupem rozeznac
rowniez produkty konkurencyjne. Takim konkurencyjnym produktem
moglby byc produkt Digital Equipment Corporation pn. Pathworks.
30 licencji i to juz byla cena obnizona, ostatnio pojedyncze
egzemplarze oferowano za cene ok. 200 USD (w obu przypadkach nalezy
uwzglednic VAT).
Jezeli informacja o dofinansowaniu przez KBN by sie potwierdzila,
to przy dofinansowaniu 99% zaspokojenie najbardziej wyuzdanych potrzeb
kosztowaloby per PC ponizej jednego USD w przypadku Pathworkow
i wydajac te same pieniadze moznaby zaspokoic kilkakrotnie! wiecej
uzytkownikow niz kupujac FTP PCTCP.
bo w miare kompetentnie moglbym cos powiedziec nt. FTP (uzywam od roku),
a Pathworkom moglem sie dopiero przyjrzec na tyle, by uzyskac
w miare sensowne pierwsze wrazenie.
w PC i ew. w UNIXie trzeba zrobic operacje odwrotna lub stosowac ISO
Latin 2 (ISO 8859-2). W przypadku oprogramowania public domain
w wiekszosci przypadkow tez daje sie uzyskac polskie litery stosujac
Temu problemowi poswiecilem dosc duzo uwagi i czsu i z moich
prawdopodobnie support VT-125, ktory zagarnia przestrzen kodowa
w obszarze 0x80 - 0x9f, a wszystkie (oprocz ISO Latin 2) standardy
polskich liter tez wykorzystuja powyzszy obszar.
Pathworki maja jeszcze znacznie milsze ftp (przezucanie mysza z jednej
kolumny do drugiej i juz, choc brak tu rozwiniecia tree structure tj.
do drzew.
Windows
for Workgroups).
Z powyzszego juz dobitnie wynika, ze moze byc to propozycja b. konkurencyjna
wobec FTP Software i warto sie jej przyjrzec blizej. Oczywiscie nie jest
to jedyna konkurencyjna propozycja.

Pathworks to siec lokalna (client - server).

Dotychczas dostepny byl server Pathworkow pracujacy w systemie
np. VAX lub DECstations?

W sytuacji rosnacej ilosci hostow unixowych w polskim internecie
dostep z PC, poprzez NFS do zasobow tychze hostow wydaje sie
bardzo istotna zaleta PC/TCP. Pathworki posiadaja inne zalety:
dostep do uslug LAT i LAD. Inna kwestia jest latwosc obslugi
oprogramowania, nie posiadam doswiadczen w pracy z PC/TCP, natomiast
moje wrazenia z pracy z Pathworks (v.4.1a) sa zdecydowanie negatywne.
Dostepna mi do tej pory wersja odznacza sie dosc dlugim czasem
ladowania i zajmuje zbyt duzo miejsca w pamieci PC. Byc moze nowa wersja
tego oprogramowania zostala pod tym wzgledem poprawiona.

polyslo.calpoly.edu: /pub/mdurkin/nfs/nfs022-w.zip

NFS klient dla PC na stacku wattcp. Beta, ale i tak dziala ladnie. Shareware.

znany, a polski Internet praktycznie stoi.

awarii uleglo urzadzenie sprzegajace pomiedzy router-em a linia
satelitarna. Spodziewany czas usuniecia awarii: po uzyskaniu
zastepczego urzadzenia, 1 - 7 dni.

sprawy poruszane byly rowniez w innych wypowiedziach

> Pathworks to siec lokalna (client - server).

segmencie wisza klienckie PC z PC/TCP (sic!)
SCO serwuje np. dyski do PCow.
W tym srodowisku sa wszystkie podstawowe elementy niezbedne w sieci
klient-serwer.
i okolicy wygaldaja podobnie do mojej (niektore sa podcepione
bezposrednio do jeszcze wiekszej ilosci serwerow).
W tym kontekscie widze mozliwosc zastosowania Pathworkow (wersja 5)
zamiast PC/TCP.
A zzatem z takiego punktu
widzenia mozna mowic o konkurencyjnosci Pathworkow.
Instalowalem trzy kolejne wersje PC/TCP (2.1, 2.2 i 2.3) na kilku PC.
(Procedura jest niezbyt mila, dluga i dosc zmudna i zawsze potem
trzeba recznie cos poprawiac.)
klienckie oprogramowanie sieci klient-serwer.
Reasumujac widze mozliwosc porownania tych dwoch produktow (a wiec
rowniez konkurencji) patrzac z punktu widzenia mojego wlasnego
cech podobienstwa do mojej lokalnej sytuacji.

jeden serwer (a mam) te koszty moge juz porownywac.

pojawil sie DFS (Distributed FS), jednoczesnie wielcy producenci
rownie wielkich standardow serwujacych dyski zra sie miedzy soba
specjalizowanych serwerow NFSowych.

do sieci najwiekszych superkomputerow. Czy to prawda? A jezeli - to czy
w zwiazku ze skresleniem Polski z listy COCOM to ograniczenie
przestanie obowiazywac?
